Remembering Together, Orkney

Remembering Together, Orkney is part of a national project, happening accross all Scottish council areas. We've been asked to deliver the first phase of the project which is all about talking to local folk and finding out what they think a Covid memorial for Orkney should be like. This first phase will continue until the end of January 2023 and what we learn will inform the work that gets commisioned for the second phase. It's a very open brief and the memorial could take many forms, it could be permanent or temporary, an event, or it could be more than one thing.

We've been visiting community groups and using creative approaches to explore with people how they’d like to remember. We're visiting all of the islands and we're keen to give folk different ways to input into the project.

We need your help to explore ideas, thoughts, experiences and feelings about the pandemic in Orkney and how it’s affected you. It’s very important that we hear from lots of folk from all around Orkney to have their say in what a memorial should be.

We have some drop-in sessions planned which are open to all:

Saturday 10th December 2022 at The Pier Arts Centre, Stromness 10.30am - 5pm

Tuesday 17th January 2023 at Voluntary Action Orkney, Kirkwall 12 midday - 4pm

We'll update this page with new dates as we get them booked
