Orkney Culture Collective

We delivered a project as part of the Culture Collective during 2022 and 2023, focused on jamming together with art and music. We worked with two Orkney care places to co-create work alongside service users and staff, working with our co-creators throughout the process of creation - exploring ideas, deciding on form and content and creating content together.

At the Kalisgarth Care Centre on Westray we all co-created a video with sound called Along the Shore reflecting the strong connection to and importance of the shoreline in Westray. The video has images and collages made during the sessions, video and photos captured on Westray and a soundtrack of music made during the jam sessions.

At the Glaitness Centre in Kirkwall we all co-created an audio-visual piece for interractive installation called Happy Places The installation asked the visitor to mix the audio-visual material to make their own version of a happy place. The Happy Places were: City, Palace and Oscar, featuring audio-visual material we had gathered, selected and made together.

Both works were shown at an exhibition at the Pier Arts Centre in August 2023
